Snicker Doodle Rises to 3rd in Truck Series
Rookie Talks Top-5 Finishes, Charlotte, Previews Earnhardt Scheme
"I couldn't have dreamed we would've turned around like this" said the ecstatic rookie Truck Series driver after snapping a 4-race top-5 streak with a 10th at Dover. Despite the 10th place finish, the 7 team was able to dig up 4th place in points for the day with strong stage finishes.
"we had a great truck today, I got us into the wall and we had to clear a tire rub so I could keep going. I'm pleased that I was able to drive up from 19th to finish 10th on the day. We had another top 5 truck and a podium strategy, but I'll take it."
Since beginning his 8-race commitment to run Dale Earnhardt-inspired paint schemes, Snicker Doodle has been on fire, with a win, a 3rd, and two 4th place finishes prior to today's 10th (4th in points). Prior to that string of races Doodle was not in the playoffs, but after Dover he's risen to 3rd overall following a Victoria Kennedy DNF.
"2 weeks ago all I wanted was to find my way to 12th [in the standings]. Now we're in the playoffs at +100, and I have to think some of it has to do with getting some luck from the Earnhardt colors. Winning my first race in the Intimidator colors was a really cool experience, but I'm really excited for Charlotte. We've got a good truck, I've put a ton of time into this track, and I feel great in the red white and blue Earnhardt scheme."
The rookie went on to talk about understanding that this type of success isn't a guarantee, especially with the level of competition just behind him, and that he and the crew will continue to work to maintain the positive results. Pepperidge Farm Racing also released a preview of the final Earnhardt scheme, which Doodle will drive at the upcoming Kansas and Texas races.
