Press Releases - The Back Of Mack
The Back Of Mack
As was written oh so long ago, Mack Zaggro was true to his word, hanging up his gloves on this, the day of his 33rd birthday.
Mack leaves behind a luke warm legacy at best, never quite ascending to the lofty heights of his potential, peaking at World Rank #41 and UK Rank #2 as the Moto powerhouse that is Paul Wigzey is busy blazing a trail, streets ahead in #1
Zaggro did at least manage to emulate his predecessor Ray Striver in that respect, but fell short of his overall target of #1 set by his managers debut driver Guy Wellington (who broke the World Top 20 with a 2.6k rating... Cus times was different way back when!)
However it's not all doom and gloom! Mack walked away from the sport as Britain's winningest Indy driver, and made good on his promise to skew the curve by breaking EIGHT Indy lap records in his retirement season! Real talk, Indy has by far been the best series i've contested, sure it has its OP candidates the same as any other series, but it's closer and more diverse than any F3 series that came before it.
So with his win tally, his 39 lap records, his multitude of silverware, and his "You were never #1" teapot retirement gift, Zaggro can leave with his head held high-ish... At like, 45° or something.
And lest we forget, in his place, steps yet another young upstart. 18 year old Wynn Hunter, sporting an electric blue helmet and fuchsia pink pain job emulating that of his NOVA teams Superb Formula and Indy challengers. Wynn took no time at all in sharing his dislike for racing open wheelers, and will be exclusively racing in tin tops as soon as the opportunity presents itself. His training regime opting not to feed in to the meta straight off the bat, but to take a swing at a slightly more direct approach. We can but see what sort of win hunting Wynn Hunter will wind up with when we watch what and whether Wynn will win...
