Press Releases - Series Restrictions...

Series Restrictions...

Firstly I'd like to say, I really like this game! I've been here since the BETA season in 2011 (now I feel old...) And frankly, the Devs have done a great job with additions and progression, while still running their day to day commitments! It's a sort of "Take what you want from it..." Game, it enables you to play in depth, or shallow, and still get something out of it.

That said, my issue is the same as it has been since very very early seasons, it's been coming up for years in PR's and forums, and I can only assume there is a reason it's not in the game after so long, but for me is a fundamental reason new users might switch off.

Series Ranking / Age Restrictions

Many times in these 27 seasons you join a series with high hopes... Then you get one or two significantly overpowered drivers drop in last minute, to a series well below their capability and basically leaving you to sack off the season. This is still a factor in places now, because for example, you pay €500,000 to enter F3 World, breeze your way to the title, and double your money with relative ease so you can rinse training the following season, and become further overpowered...

I've been the guy crawling home behind that kind of driver many times, and nothing says "I can't be bothered" more than losing by over a minute, and scraping a podium at best in a series you could have won...

It's not as big a problem as it was, but it still exists. There is literally zero incentive for an 19/20 year old driver who wants to try his hand at Indy Jr or Formula E, only to crawl home in the bottom half of the field, and lose a stack of cash and rank before either retiring, or spending a few seasons repairing the damage.

A simple 300.00 - 500.00 ranking cap, or U20 age restriction (like "Rookies" quick races) on some of the F3 Nationals/Regionals would help filter new drivers into genuinely competitive fields.
This may also explain why some veteran managers are switching off, knowing that starting over at 18 and seeing any sort of success is a near impossible task.

I share some of your thoughts torbar, and that's why I'm involved too, in order to help make MRC better. On the first group, new users are indeed hard to keep. Superlicense for a month might help, would give them more time to settle in and decide ...

Thanx Adamski, this was almost the 2nd article i was about to write last nite :), let me add a little on why also there is more problems with this. A void or vaccum has been created with the removal of series (Too many removed) for drivers 21-23 yr...

Adamski pretty much said what I had in mind lol, but I'm going to say my personal point of view and experience. I've chatted with the guys in the venting thread over why new users don't even last a week on the game which pretty much started the de...
