Press Releases - A Note From the USRA President
A Note From the USRA President
As I approach the end of my fifth season as President, I look back on what we have accomplished. We have put together decent, but not great results, mainly the result of turnover in the U21 ranks and a couple drivers in the senior ranks retiring or going inactive. We do, however, have some great up-and-coming drivers in both ranks that can help propel us to greater success in seasons to come. We've also been active in the private series circuit, with America's Cup, several USRA-only series, and soon BradleyBundy's World Cup of Racing.
Throughout my 53 weeks as President, slightly over one real-world year, I have also undergone substantial changes in my personal life. When first elected, I was working at a grocery store, but that job did not work out, and I eventually applied for and enrolled in college for the fall semester this year. As a full-time college student, I need to spend a lot of time studying, which is at odds with the many other obligations and activities I have. This will be even more pronounced when spring semester starts on January 16, as a change of major means that I have have much tougher courses this time around than I had in the fall.
As a result of this, I have been forced to begin scaling back my obligations and involvement in various activities. As part of this cutting back, I am hereby announcing that Season 25 (the current season) will be my last season as USRA President. It's been a great five seasons, but real-life obligations need to take priority over an internet game.
I will still be active on MRC as a player, but will likely cut back on the number of series I participate in at one time from the 4 to 6 that has been typical of me for a while to reduce my daily time commitment. I still hope to reach Formula One someday, and will continue to chase that dream along with everyone else.
I am confident that we will find a good candidate to fill the position of President, and I encourage anyone who is active on the forums and experienced with MRC to submit their candidacy speech when the submissions open tonight or tomorrow.
Thank you for trusting in me for an unprecedented five seasons, and I hope that our next President will be worthy of the same.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Goble
President, United States Racing Association
