Press Releases - Jones gets on the right track
Jones gets on the right track
Alan Jones sees himself with 2 strong results at Sydney Motorsport Park to see him get him well into championship contention.
Jones finished 4th and 2nd in the two races, including a 4 lap run in the final feature race in which he whittled a 20 second deficit in 3rd place to less than 1 second. A few timely mistakes really hurt Jones, but manager FlyingFinn was simply happy with the good results that put 2KF1 Racing firmly into the bout.
FF: "It is really good to see that Alan is now coming to terms with the F2 car. On a permanent track as well, Alan was able to show off his talents. Both Albert Park and Surfers Paradise are hard tracks on both driver and car, he was unlucky to only get 12 points. But now with 42, only 41 behind instead of 71, we have some momentum."
Jones' team were also happy this week, the Australian bringing back his first trophy since the Australian Championship, netting 3rd in the World Oval Series. A retirement in Canada along with a poor showing at Indianapolis meant that the Australian was overhauled by Dominik Dan, but was still overjoyed at the 3rd place. Jones spoke of the good fortune at an entire season, and hopes it isn't the last custom series trophy for the year.
2KF1 teammate Allan Moffat had a hard week, a strong fourth place in the F3 Australian series Philip Island wasn't enough to keep the series lead, and a retirement in the Feature race now has him 28 points down. More to follow from manager Jimmer.
2KF1 racers Alan Jones (Oceania F2) and Jimmer (Australian F3) are currently 5th (41 behind leader) and 2nd (28 behind leader) respectively in their competitions.
