Junkyard...

As the best of the best Rookie Series event at Oschersleben wraps up, many teams and drivers were left calculating the financial damage, not the state of the championship table.

Race One saw no less than nine retirements over 31 laps with many seemingly struggling with the challenging German track, the Safety Car though, managed to stay dormant up until the final race incidents on lap 27 when British driver Gadd found himself with mechanical issues and American charger Smythe dropped his car in the gravel. With two stricken cars the race was forced to end under caution.

Race Two was somewhat worse for many involved, as barely half the field crossed the line at the end after a staggering twelve drivers retired.

"I barely saw any of what happened..." said Wellington.

"I came past the pit wall every lap and it seemed i was gaining places every time, i was cruising early on, unfortunately fighting between 14-16th, pitted to 14th and just kept on Raketa's tail, passed him and figured that was about it for the day, i only clocked that i had finished 7th at the weighbridge when we came back to the paddock!"

The lack of front runners and big names in the Rookie Series scoring points this week has seen Wellington climb to 16th in the standings, just 6pts off the Top 10.

"Its a bit of a false reading to be honest, i think our consistency has ensured we stay high in the standings. One slip up while the points are so close is very costly. We have every much the same field next time round, if can can retain a place in the top half of the field we'll have had a good week..."

For Jay, the series moves to Brno, a mid-paces flowing circuit which could prove very tough to overtake.
