Press Releases - Bauer takes 14th in his First Nations Cup Weekend
Bauer takes 14th in his First Nations Cup Weekend
Young American driver Michael Bauer took 14th in the feature portion of his first Nations Cup race over the weekend and after the race our U21 correspondent caught up with the young man.
C: Michael, how do you feel after your first week in the A1 car?
M: It was definitely different from the F3 machines, but my experience with a few private car events was helpful with the setups, as were my American team-mates Tyler Daniel and Bruce Wayne.
C: So the American team does share strategy?
M: Of course, we want to be the best and so we must co-operate. It's very nice to have experienced drivers to lean on when you're just getting started.
C: You were involved in an incident with the Dutch driver during the race, any thoughts?
M: Well, I had a good run on him and went for the overtake, and he just lost his car for a moment and unfortunately gave me a bit of a knock. Luckily, it happened at a good time inside our pit window so we didn't lose too much time and the lads were able to patch the car up well. That's the struggle in the U21 races, lots of young talent out there, there's bound to be a mishap or two.
C: So no ill will?
M: No, I might have finished better, but I might not have. And as we Americans like to say, rubbin is racin'.
C: Thank you for your time.
So there you have it, the young American was obviously very happy with the chance at the drive and the American team is starting to come together. It'll certainly be interesting to see if they can improve in next season's standings of the Nations Cup.
