Press Releases - F1 & McLaren Update after Season 12

F1 & McLaren Update after Season 12

Another F1 season is over, so it’s time for a quick recap.

F1 Season

F1 season number 4 brought us a new Constructors champion: Red Bull claims the top spot. One of the reasons for this was their new driver Tök who provided the cutting edge to the title in the last 2 races of the season. Only 14 points seperated Red Bull and former champion OMR at the end. Mercedes was not far behind which was a little surprise as their car was not regarded that highly at the beginning of the season.

Driver champion was once again Philippe de Saint-Germain Jr of Red Bull who made it twice in a row now. 14 pole positions and 9 wins speak of his dominance this season. Despite these brilliant stats the second in the standings, Andre Acarini, was only 25 points behind.

McLaren would like to congratulate Red Bull and PSG to their great season!

There were no big surprises in the standings, only 4 teams could make it to the podium (Red Bull, OMR, Mercedes and Jordan), the gap between 4th placed Jordan and McLaren was quite big, the same can be said for the gap between McLaren and the teams on the next spots.

Next season will be exciting with Guido Di Rado taking Botta’s spot at OMR, while Botta moves to Audi (former Team Europe). Audi also signs Jukna from WAR. Adding the investments they made to their new drivers it’s going to be interesting to see how they will do in the next season.

Other changes on driver position are: Kamil Speedkowsky (2nd in NASCAR currently) to Sempre Senna after Kubica retired, Fabricio Cruz (F2 World Series winner) to WAR for Jukna, rain specialist Sergey Osmolovsky to Marussia for Terkin, Erick Syah to DEM for Essartal, Rudi Bremser to LKR for Artmann, Max Andrews to Trabant for Volker Adler and two new drivers (Mieczyslaw Gnojarzowski / Marcos Afonso) for Hamrheadz. Ferrari is still without drivers for next season. McLaren signed a new driver too but we’ll get to that later on.

McLarens Season

Our season was satisfying as we could keep our fifth place in team standings and no team could close the gap. Sadly we couldn’t close the gap to the top 4 teams also. With 124 points we scored less points than in the previous season (159 points).

Freiverts made it to 9th with 77 points (his personal best so far) and Szabo 10th with 47 points.

All basic stats improved a bit:

Income: 53.9 million (Season 11: 49.4 million)
Team Rating: 1,198 (Season 11: 1,155)
Fans: 121 (Season 11: 101)

McLaren drivers in Season 13
After driving with the same drivers in the last four season we have a new driver to announce. 24 year old swiss driver Rocco Rapido will take Ivaan Szabos seat in the upcoming season. Rapido participated in Indy Series in the last two season and finished 2nd and 3rd in the season standings. His manager Invictus is also manager of the McLaren F1 team. But this is not the only reason he made it to the F1, experts regard him as one of the biggest prospects in racing.

Long time driver Ivaan Szabo is leaving the team and is most likely going to participate in Indy Series next season. We would like to thank Ivaan for his services to the team. The cooperation in the last 4 seasons was always excellent and he is one of the reasons we are where we are in the standings. We wish him and his driver good luck and success for the future!

Donations
We would like to thank our driver Marcis Freiverts for his very generous donation of 4 million dollars this season. That’s quite a big chunk of money. Also a big thank you to our owner Pintura who donated 1 million dollars. We will invest it to make an even better car.

McLaren Fans
Also a big thank you to our fans, we went from 101 fans last season to 121 fans this season. Special thanks to everyone who donated points, you are the reason we get quite a bit of money from this channel!
