Press Releases - Bahnert surprises with Top Ten in Qualifying
Bahnert surprises with Top Ten in Qualifying
Australian rookie Tyler Bahnert has become the shock of the Hungarian Trophy LXXIV as he qualified an amazing tenth in only his second ever qualifying session in the series and his first at the Euro-Ring.
Bahnert has been quiet good in his qualifying performances in his first few races in Formula 3, but has left a lot to be desired in his racing, not finishing higher than 22nd after a few mishaps on track.
Speaking after the session, Bahnert said "It's great to have my first top ten starting position after so little time, and it's a great start to the round. There's just a little more to go regarding race strategy and patience and we may be at the front hopefully sooner rather than later!"
Team boss Dave Murphy was also impressed, "He did very well that session. As long as he remains level headed in the races to come, he'll be up there."
It remains to be seen whether Bahnert can convert his top ten into points, but it is very clear that this kid has potential. Watch this space.
