Press Releases - Is MRC Formula 1 Exciting?

Is MRC Formula 1 Exciting?

My opinion: No, it is not. But I understand that the correct answer is probably Yes & No.

I'll explain why, I obviously think the top three or four teams find it exciting because they are able to compete for wins in most grand prix they race. I also can understand if another three or four teams have some excitement in battling for points during the season, albeit being limited to that. For the rest of the teams tho it probably isn't very exciting and can become a chore.

And for the casual user that doesn't own shares, do they even follow MRC F1? I doubt it.

For starters it's difficult to even find the F1 races if you're new (sometimes users that have been here for long don't know where to find it either). Then if to me (a shareholder) MRC F1 is currently boring I can imagine that a user with no interest in any team (even fans) don't really follow it.

And why is that? Is MRC F1 close to realistic? I actually think it is, unfortunately that sometimes isn't a good thing. Real life F1 has no parity, meaning the teams with more capacity/cash/resources have advantages over teams with less of it, and that usually shows in the races where excitement is something that is rarely there. Close to what we have in MRC F1 in my opinion.

However Formula 1 executives are currently considering something that may alter that state a bit. They are considering implementing a budget cap. They are doing this to control costs because they are incredibly high, but they will also give the sport some parity by doing so. Because if this goes forward this should give all teams the same budget for a season. And then let their crew of designers/engineers/etc/etc work with that amount of cash and build the best car they can. The best teams will continue to have some advantages, they still have top quality facilities that others don't have.

My point is, a budget cap could potentially turn the real F1 around and make it more exciting with the drivers actually making more of a difference most of the times instead of only the car. Cars would be more similar aldo different in style of build approach.

This could be something that could work in MRC F1 as well. Parity is very important when having a competition. If you have one team that can spend 10MIL and another that can spend 5MIL there is none of it, and the competition suffers because it becomes boring.

With this I am not saying that we should take away the 10MIL that a team can invest in a car and reduce it to 5MIl. No. A way to do it would be to set the ceiling at an acceptable level to the top teams and then set a gradual glide-path downward over a number of seasons to a level that works.

Anyways, I honestly think something should be done. I'm not criticizing the work that was done by the developers on this as they tried to mimic real F1, and have come real close to it. But real F1 isn't really fun anymore, at least to me...

I could say more on this matter but for now I'll leave it at that. Again, this isn't a knock on anyone at all. Just one guy's opinion. ;)

How about you, do you find MRC F1 exciting?
