Lost and Found...
After a 48 hour search our veteran Rage reported Jason Anderson finally tracked down the British Rage boys and in a break from form got more words from Brandon Knight than he almost knew what to do with.
JA: So here we are....care to explain.
Brandon Knight: I'll do my best Jason, You might wanna get a drink in though, it's not a short story.
So after Drum won the cup everything got a bit messy. For a good few days. In fact when we both rocked up at heathrow to head for Africa Drum was still drunk and I was nursing a hangover that felt worse than being run off the track by Mr Bennett. Call it what you will, a lack of judgement, alcohol induced stupidity, Drummond Bennett syndrome...but for some reason we had let Drum deal with the entry for the races and the travel. Apparently his manager Don was in an even worse state than us..although I'm still not sure how we ended up giving the responsibility to the drunkest person but that's a story that will probably never get remembered.
So anyway there we are at heathrow and all is going great. We are in the minor celebrity category now apparently and that meant business class, nice lounge and someone to tell us where to go and hand us drinks...because that was what we needed after a 5 day bender! But we boarded the plane no problem, took our seats and got underway. Africa here we come right.....wrong.
I'd slept some of the booze off about 8 hours in and Drum was making excellent use of the facilities, not in the good way, so i decided to check our flight plan on the tv screen. It showed us somewhere over the middle east. When I asked the stewardess, in the best 'sober speech' I could muster, 'Excuse me, but where is this plane going?' I think she thought I was either joking or just plain stupid.
As it turns out it wasn't Africa. It was Australia. So now I did look stupid and I could only surmise at this point that the online booking system had been too much for Drum and the fact they both began with an 'A' was all that did it, either that or he forgot he was booking for a Race series and just decided he wanted to go to Austrailia. Either way, as you can imagine, I was a little freaked out by this. Fortunately for me fellow Driver Trevor Harvey was also on the flight. A couple of calls, I had no idea you could make calls from a 747, later and we managed to confirm that not only was this indeed a flight to Aus, we were apparently also entered into the Oceania series as well. I'm not sure how, when or why Drum made this decision but there we have it...we'll be racing in Australia and it's surrounds next season.
JA: You weren't kidding...what a tale.
BK: And I'm not really done yet either. We spent the rest of the flight getting to know Trevor [Harvey], although Drum was convinced he was called Tim and still seems adamant that this shuold be the case. We got on really well, we've raced together in the past and, with a few more phone calls, came to possibly another drunken decision to invite Trevor 'Tim' Harvey to make us a 3 man Rage team in Oceania this season.
JA: That is big news. With the addition of Vos just a few days ago that makes you guys 6 strong now.
BK: Yep, but you know we always drive our best when competing with each other as the US series showed last season. Tim is a great driver and will be a good addition to our team, and a good push for Drum and I to step up our game.
JA: And amazingly you still only have people in your team with flags that colour red white and blue.
BK: It's not deliberate but our graphic designer appreciates it.
JA: Well good luck for the series opener in a few days. And say hi to Drum for me when you see him. We'll catch up soon no doubt.
BK: Sure thing mate. I'm off for a 3 day detox, a bbq and some well earned beach time. See ya in the pit lane!
B.P.R.E.
Best PR Ever. Laughed out loud when I read it. Good luck, mates!
