Rookie Driver Takes First Career Podium
It was beautiful day in Valencia for racing as the Formula 3 Rookie Series stopped in Spain. American Rookie driver Caleb Ferrell came onto the track after placing 2nd in qualification, his best starting place on the grid in his young career.
Once the green lights came out Ferrell sputtered to a slow start losing a position on Lap 2 to Terry Mazza. The driver made up for his mistake later in the day by regaining his qualifying position in Lap 14 after a series of errors from the Latvian Mazza. Ferrell was able to coast to the checkered flag not once getting close enough to Czech driver Herma Frodit to contest for victory.
Ferrell was quoted as saying, "I am extremely excited about my first podium. I hope to build on this in our second race in Valencia and stand at the top of the podium." Formula 3 fans will see if he can attain his goal later this week.
