Press Releases - How F1 teams compare to Ferrari

How F1 teams compare to Ferrari

Here is how Formula 1 teams compare to the Ferrari if you take away development focus. In this comparison I didn’t include the slowest four teams as it’s hard to predict what development focus they chose.

All eleven teams that have already managed to score points can be divided into five groups, and in the first group we have Ferrari. Basically, they have been unteachable when it comes to pace since new engines were introduced.

A bit back we have Red Bull and Porsche. Both teams have almost identical cars, but different development focuses. Will drivers or the development focus be the difference?

In the third group, McLaren and Sempre Senna also have almost identical cars, but their development focus is even more different. It will be interesting to see which team will come on top at the end of the season. Both teams will also battle with Ford for the fourth place in the constructor’s championship. Ford’s maximum speed is even better than Ferrari’s and with great acceleration, but poor braking and handling, all three teams have completely different cars. Because of that, I expect big points swing during the course of the season, depending on the type of track we race on.

Another two teams with nearly identical cars are Lotus and Alpine. Despite that, Lotus have had a lot better results, scoring points on four occasions and even managing to secure a podium finish in Barcelona. On the other hand, Alpine scored their first and only points in Monaco. In would also put Tesla and Pegaso into this group, but for very different reasons. Tesla is a bit slower than Lotus and Alpine, so their driver’s will have to really be on fire to finish in front of Alpine. On the other hand, Pegaso should really be in their own group as they are considerably slower than Lotus or Alpine, but their development focus makes up for that. Along Sempre Senna, they are the only team with maximum speed development focus among the top ten teams and this gives them the opportunity to score a lot of points on speed tracks.

In the last grope we have Williams. Even tougher their pace is well below the teams in front, I had to include them because of their amazing performance in Barcelona. In my opinion, their drivers are their strong point and who knows, we might see another Barcelona in the future.
