Press Releases - The Painful Decision of Pitting Late

The Painful Decision of Pitting Late

In a rather insignificant F4 quick rookie race in Putrajaya, Greek 18-year-old driver Alexandros Megas took the pole and was leading for the largest part of the 44-lap race. On lap 22 all other cars decided to pit except from Megas who remained in the track and extended his margin. Having decided to pit in the final lap after building a big margin from second position, the young driver was caught sleeping when the safety car was deployed on lap 38. His 45 second margin was gone. When he finally pitted on lap 39, he was left on the back of the grid and never managed to recover, finishing 29th and taking a big yet painful lesson.
