Tesla Fan Championship - Season 4 Review

Season number 4 of the Tesla Fan Championship brought us yet another win for Nádia Portocarrero, her 3rd in a row! It has to be said though that initially it looked like we would have a great season long battle after Vasco Guerra won the first 2 races and in fact by race 4 Vasco was still leading by 30 points, then Vasco Guerra suffered 2 retirements in a row and that completely turned the championship around as Nádia won 6 races in a row. Vasco did win 2 more races but that championship was well a truly decided in Nádia’s favor.

Title goes for Nádia Portocarrero with 6 wins ahead of Vasco Guerra who was the only other driver to win races, 4 in total. Johnny da Costa III finished in 3rd after beating Manuel Vicente, the latter started the season strongly but Johnny then got the upper hand in the 2nd half of the season after a retirement from Manuel. Maurício Cruz finished next up in 5th place after beating Matvey Sobolev, Cruz had a clear lead after the first 7 races however a bad 8th race coupled with an excellent 2nd place from Matvey relaunched the fight only for Maurício to recover in the final races. Bartolomeu Jarbas finished in 7th place after an inconsistent season just like Daniel da Silva Dias who suffered too many retirements to be in the upper positions. Jamie Thom finished all 10 races in the top 10 and that was enough for a 9th place in the end right ahead of Bruno Dacosta who could perhaps fight for 9th but 2 non-scores cost him dearly.

In Under-23, Tomas Góis Rocha has become the first driver to repeat an Under-23 title, he dominated with 6 wins out of 10 races. Felipe Campolargo finished in 2nd after 3 wins and in fact, after his 3rd win on race 7, he was less than 30 points from the lead, however Góis Rocha gave no chance and finished the season in perfect form winning the final 3 races with the fastest laps and most laps led! Cameron McPherson had to settle for 3rd place, this time not being able to mount a championship challenge. Huguinho Silva finished in 4th place with a good 5 podiums in total, Visvaldis Cels finished in 5th place stepping on the podium just once. Miguel de Monteiro finished in 6th followed by Lucas Andrade, Carlos da Costa and Pikacsu Lakatos, these 3 having a great fight and finishing within just 5 points, Andrade was the best 18 year old this season. Ayomide Ayodele closed our top 10 with P6 as his best finish and finally young Nick Suzuki was our final Under-23 driver finishing P8 at best.

With yet another dominating season, Nádia Portocarrero extended the all-time Tesla-FC records, she’s got the most points (1702), podiums (29), top 5 (34), poles (15), fastest laps (14) and titles (3). There is still an exception, Johnny da Costa III had another perfect season in top 10 finishes and still maintains the lead in top 10 finishes, 39 in total meaning Johnny only missed one top 10 in 40 races!

In Under-23 some records have changed hands, Cameron McPherson still maintains the most points now with 1613 points in total, he has lost the most wins lead to Tomas Góis Rocha who now leads with 13 wins, McPherson still has the most podiums with 32 and top 5 with 35 in total. Visvaldis Cels is the only driver to finish every race in the top 10, 40 in total. Alexandre Campolargo has finally lost his most poles record to Tomas Góis Rocha who now has 13 just like the fastest laps record who now belong to Góis Rocha, 12 in total. And of course, Tomas Góis Rocha is now the only driver to have 2 titles in total, 1 more than Cameron McPherson and Alexandre Campolargo.

And that’s it for season 4 of the Tesla Fan Championship, all our Tesla-FC participants will get an automatic invitation for the Tesla Super Cup which is coming in a few weeks, good races!
