Exclusive Interview with Ezra Sherman

The Balkan Formula 3 series is almost at it's midway point, and American Ezra Sherman is raring for another victory. After winning the first race of the season, the victory has just escaped him on multiple occasions. Today, we have an exclusive interview with the young racer who's still in contention for the championship.

Almondmilk: Hi Ezra, your season has been quite the ride so far. How would you put it?

Ezra Sherman: Yeah, it has been. I'd put it as a success so far, with the first win coming in the first race compared to the 16th. Both of them came in Slovenia, funny enough. I have the pace to fight with the top guys, and it's only a matter of time before I win another one.

Almondmilk: You certainly do have the pace. In your last race in Opatija, you were gaining somewhere between half a second and almost a second a lap compared to [Anna] Viviani. How do you do it so well?

Sherman: When I race, I want to make the most of my tires, so I'm pretty soft on them. I've had some races where my manager was telling me to keep trucking since my tires were faring better than the cars in front of me, even though I pit before them. I've also been driving on the sim at home every day to learn the track to know where to get the most out of my car. Sometimes it doesn't work out too well!

Almondmilk: Haha, yeah, last race you were onto what seemed like a well-earned victory.

Sherman: Yeah, I just lost the rear end a bit and screwed the suspension coming through turn 13. I gave [Anna] Viviani the win with that mistake, but David [Zver] gave her a run for her money at the end.

Almondmilk: You're only 98 points from [David] Zver at the top of the standings. Do you think you can swing the momentum in your favor next race at Zaluzani?

Sherman: I sure hope so. I got 4th in the sprint race last year, and with the experience I've gained, I believe I can take the win. My goal for this season is to be in the top 3 in the standings.

Almondmilk: You're definitively on pace to be in the top 3. As you know, the silly season has begun in F3, and instead of teams, the silly season focuses on what series you're going to. Do you have any info on what series you're going to next season?

Sherman: Well, the Indy Series is surely the dream, but I'm not getting any experience in American tracks here am I? My plan is to save some money for the Indy Junior Series by heading to the American F3 series. But don't worry, I'm going to stay here in the Balkans until I win the championship!

Almondmilk: Before we end, I'd like to thank you for letting me into your home for an interview. Is there anything else that you'd like to say?

Sherman: Yeah, no problem. I'd just like to say that I'm grateful for the opportunity that I'm in right now to be here in the Balkan Series, and my team is phenomenal. I think my team deserves a lot more credit than they receive. I wouldn't be here without them.
