Solid Points On Home Debut

Newcomer William Norman has just completed his first two Formula 3 races and is already experiencing the typical ups and downs of motorsport. The 22-year-old had a hectic schedule with qualifying for an F3 race in Hamilton, New Zealand, before flying back to his hometown of Melbourne that same day to qualify another ART-Honda at Sandown Raceway.

Norman struggled to match the front running pace both away and home and was quickly headed on a flight back to Hamilton for the race before a quick turn around to get back to Australia.

Norman was naturally disappointed when his car broke down, preventing him from finishing the race in Hamilton after running as high as third at one stage in a race of mixed conditions and several incidents.

Returning to Sandown for the race there Norman was able to get his head down and work his way through the field and find himself in seventh position thanks to a reasonable race pace and only minor incidents.

"It's great to actually get a result in only the second time I've raced an open-wheeler since karting." Said Norman after the race. "I must admit that I had to push very hard to keep the pace and I had quite a few moments where I thought I had overdone it but in the end it turned out okay and I'm very pleased for myself and the team."

Norman will be back on a plane soon, this time all the way to Germany for a short F3 series there.
