新闻 - Local Foods

Local Foods

Local Delicacies.

There are times when racing in the Formula 3 Estonian series competing for the EVAL cup we get to taste some local foods.
Such as when in Latvia we all tasted Grey peas with onions and bacon and drank some Birch juice . Our team members from Latvia V.Solovejs and P.Rode suggested these to us , although P.Rode did point out the Finnish Hesburger as having a more tastier burger than the world renown McDonalds found all over the world. And we all checked out a variety of different Hesburgers locations around the Baltic.
Our Estonian team member A.Olesk introduced us to smoked eel ,in Estonia. Although I have to say my Lithuanian grandmother used to make smoked eel which i thought tasted better.
In Poland who can go without eating pierogies. But our Polish team member A.Pisz made these quotes. "However, frankly speaking there are dozens of places where you can eat cheaper, still fast, and probably healthier. Poles love a simple fast-food called a ‘doner kebab’ – one of a traditional food of the Turkish cuisine, made of a big roll (or a thin crepe) stuffed with some grilled chicken (in Turkey it’s usually mutton), vegetables (mainly white cabbage) and with some addition of sauces (delicate yoghurt-creamy sauce or a spicy red one). Kebab came to Poland probably from Germany, where it had enjoyed a great popularity. And so it is in Poland. These small kiosks with kebab, which has gained a good reputation, work at full speed from the morning till the night.
Personally, I’m a supporter of kebab ;) In my opinion, in terms of taste, price, as well as sustenance kebab is above Mc Donald’s. I would like to say that nothing is threatening good, traditional, lightly stir-fried Polish pierogi with a cabbage and mushrooms (yummy!), but I have to tell you that on Polish streets there’s literally no fast-food restaurants serving this Polish food (although it should be ‘technically’ as easy as serving kebab is)."

Our Lithuanian team member S.Ražanauskas introduced us to Cepelinas and another potato favorite of everyones , potato-pancakes.
And when we are in Finland, although at this time we dont have a Finnish employee we had the pleasure of a Swedish team member, N.Hjalmarsson who has traveled extensively thru Scandinavia ,brought us to several local restaurants that it seemed everything was made with fresh berries or fresh mushrooms taken from their own fields. of course he also pointed us towards his favorite burger joint , Hesburger.
When we visit these Baltic and Scandinavian countries several foods are common thruout all of them such as rye breads , sausages ,of different flavors, cabbage soups and last but not least Mead .For a relaxing evening drink there is such of an abundance of Meads made from honey or fruits.
I suggest to everyone to try some Hesburgers with some Mead.
