Rage Self Destructs - Hanson Wakes Up : F3 American Series Race Report

After 5 wins in 5 races Rage motorsports were sitting happily on the grid for the second race in Denver, and why shouldn't they be, they were occupying positions 1, 2, 4 and 5. However the race ended in a completely different outcome.

Things started to go wrong when Bennett, for the third time in as many races hit one of his Rage Teammates. This time the unlucky Victim was Wheeler, Bennett bashed Wheeler out of the way for the lead, leaving Wheeler down in 5th.

Then on lap 20 Knight passed Bennett for the lead, wheeler had an off shortly after and dropped to 10th, then on lap 24, Bennett made a clean pass ( for a change) and retook the lead.

Meanwhile Wheelers race wasn't getting any better, as Uemura hit him knocking him back down to 14th. Lap 28 was a bad lap for Bennett who must have been asleep at the wheel as he made error after error, culminating in a big off and the end of his race, perhaps its just Karma, but that left Knight in the lead with Wayne following in 2nd.

Midway through the pitstops the safety car came out, Knight had stopped and was running 4th, Wayne had the lead, but those who hadn't stopped regret it and 10 laps later Knight leads the reigning champion Hansson, Wayne is in 7th and Wheeler is fighting hard in 12th.

Lap 46 proves to be Wayne last as he spins off after a mistake, the safety car comes out while the car is removed from the track and when it pulls back in Wheeler makes some serious progress up the field, and although he collides with Springer along the way he ends 5th as the sefty car redeploys.

Then on lap 65, when the safety car leaves the track Hansson pounces and passes Knight for the lead. Knight couldn't find a way passed for the next 15 laps and Hansson claimed the victory.

Wayne and Bennett DNF

Overall Rage scores their worst result of the season, Hansson scores his first win in the 6th race, Wolf makes a welcome return to the podium.
Knight takes overall lead in the Series.

Things are really starting to heat up!
