The Highs and Lows of Racing

Youngster Brandon Knight entered his first Rookie Series event in Moscow with high hopes and was rewarded early on when he qualified in pole position, noticably quicker than any of the other entrants. He carried this pace into the first race and led from start to finish, claiming the first win of his career and maximum points, which having missed out on the initial seasons races would be all important as the season progressed.

Going into the second race Knight was understandably confident. Another start from the front saw him lead the field away and put in the scecond fastest lap of the race on just lap two with a full tank of fuel. However as is often the case the fall from a lofty position can be hard and on lap 4 Knight was forced to retire with a broken transmission.

Angry and frustrated Knight has refused to talk to any press after the event and did not even hang around to see the race play out. The next event in the series takes Knight to Fuji, a track he is very familar with having had some good runs in individual races there.

Knight shouldn't be too disappointed however. At only 18 years old and a week into his career he has already notched up 9 top ten and 4 top five finishes from his 20 starts racing against some of the top competitors in the world. It's a promising start for this bright young driver.
