Season 66 F1 head to head stats! (Part 1)

Season 66 has concluded and with it an exciting title fight! One thing that sets apart F1 from most other series is that, of course, not all the cars are equal. Having good designers and engineers is as important as having good drivers.

That means that each driver can only be directly compared to their teammate, since they are driving in equal machinery. This is why, for this season I decided to compile some stats to see how each driver fared against the other side of the garage.

We will start of course with the reigning world constructor champions: Red Bull



As we can see, world champion de Saint-Germain III had the edge at Red Bull and, although Cannon put up a good fight it was not enough.

Porsche was a completely different story:



Vidmar and Zakrajsek went toe to toe until the last race, with both being championship contenders at some point. Vidmar won the qualifying battle, but in the races each driver finished ahead 12 times. Zakrajsek had 6 wins to Vidmar's 2, as well as 4 poles.

For Toyota things were quite one-sided:



Starostachev II beat Reckziegell in most qualifying sessions, as well as in the races, taking 2 wins, 3 poles and finishing 191 points ahead of his teammate. An interesting stat is that Starostachev II was the only driver to finish in the top ten in all races of the season.

As for Senna Racing, Kubica IV and Novikov had a very close battle this season:



The Russian driver finished 6 points ahead of his teammate, even though the qualifying battle went to Kubica IV, and races were split equally 12-12. Novikov also secured the team's only win and 2 poles.

In Pegaso things looked similar as in season 63, when Raveel and Bonmatí were paired at the spanish team too.



Although Bonmatí showed consistency, Raveel placed the car in places that most people probably didn't expect, including one win, securing 119 points for the team and winning the qualifying and race battles comfortably.
