Super NOVA acquire Dover!
Pit reporter Tess Signal caught up with Mad Seagull team owner Matt Seagull to find out more about the recent reports of a takeover by NOVA.
Tess "Are the reports true and what does it mean for the future of Mad Seagull?"
Matt " Yes its true, Mad Seagull will be racing under the NOVA name for at least the next 5 seasons. The deal was pretty much done at the start of S14, we've been working hard all season to get the terms of the takeover finalised, as this takeover needs to benefit both teams. Paul Dover says he has'nt really noticed much difference though as we still use the same facilities and have the same staff, although i think he likes his new twootter name pulledover@nova"
Tess "How do the drivers feel about the takeover? Does this mean that Paul Dover is effectively a number 2 driver?"
Matt "Jay Wellington and Paul Dover were karting team mates and room mates at the academy, they are best friends, we know they will push each other to perform better. Neither driver will be treated as a number 2, NOVA owner Adamski and myself have agreed that they will participate in seperate series each season, but they are free to race each other in customs and singles."
Tess "Adamski has said that you are free to run your own liveries, this is a little unusual as most teams have all cars running the same colours"
Matt "It was actually something that Paul insisted on in his contract, and at Mad Seagull we wanted to keep our our logo and seagull decal. We want Dovi's fans to be able to recognise his car easily, so Paul and i have picked a retro Lotus livery for S15."
"Rumours are currently hinting at a second stint in rookie for Dover, this could be a wise move considering the young drivers lack of pace."
"Yes, again its true (where do you get your information, and could you get me next weeks lotto numbers?). Its not unforseen though, we started this driver with a training program in mind and we're going to stick with it, his performance is expected to start improving around midseason"
"Adamski and NOVA have been known to throw some quite wild end of season parties, how did you cope with this seasons wrap party?"
"Firstly, we were told that there would be punch and pie. There was'nt.
There was however a fantastic BBQ and the band rocked! The highlight of the night though was the driver and pit crew pole dancing competition, funniest thing i've seen in years, i'm really looking forward to the midseason chilli cook off now"
