Rage not Messing Around | American F3 Series
A relatively mild (for Texas that is) evening saw the opening of the American F3 series with qualifying at Austin. Rage Motorsports set the pace this evening, putting all four of their drivers in the top 5 with Bennett and Wheeler sharing the front row.
RAGE Motorsports unveiled themselves in the dying embers of season 9 to very little fanfair other than that which they created themselves. In fact they garned more negative press than positive when the British Unnamed Team of Two spoke out against the team and its driver abilities, calling them out on being both the first official team (official being the important word) and also on their designs on the American F3 series.
Our man on the ground, Jason Anderson, caught up with Brandon Knight after the session had finished.
JA: Brandon, you must be pleased with that result.
Knight: For the team, of course, for myself not so much.
JA: You're well known for qualifying well, you think you could have done better.
Knight: Absolutely. Those errors cost me dearly, though I won't take anything away from Drummond, he put in a fast clean lap, he deserves his P1.
JA: It's a great answer to those who were saying you and your teammates were reaching too high.
Knight: It's a good start, but there's a long way to go and we aren't the only good drivers here, as Rocco proved today.
JA: So what of the race, anything you can share?
Knight: I guess I have a decision to make, honestly though I need to sleep on it and talk to the team. We still have work to do on the car too and our pre race practice could be crucial.
JA: Ah here's the pole man. Great lap Drummond, must be nice to start with clean air in front of you. The bookies have you as favourite you know?
Bennett: I didn't know that actually.
Knight: No pressure mate.
Bennett: Yea, Thanks bud...
JA: So last question, you think a Rage driver will win the first race?
Knight: I'd say theres a pretty good chance.
Bennett: We're definitely capable, regardless of what others think, but a lot can change come race day.
JA: Thanks boys.
So there we have it. Mixed feelings in the Rage camp tonight but one thing is for sure, they aren't messing around.
