S5 Overview - F2 World and Trophy of Champions

Blazefp Magazine is back once again with the end of season 6/beginning of season 7 interview to Francisco Pires. This time around with some simple and straight answers.

Blazefp Magazine: Good afternoon. Well, worst season since the first one, what a way to break the good streak. Care to tell us what happened?

Francisco Pires: Hi! I'm not too sure on this one, all was working well until the third race. After that everything started to crumble only to recover on the last couple of races. I guess I might have gotten careless at some point and took way too much time to realize it.

BM: I suppose every ship on the sea eventually crashes...

FP: It's like the third time you say I'm getting old! You really don't like me do you? I'm only 31, am I that old?

BM: I, ehm... I didn't meant to say that, sorry if it sounded that way. However, we've seen some great drivers get retired this season.

FP: Yes the two Szalonna, Magnussen and Liu, all of them legends in their countries. That was a rushed decision from their managers in my point of view.

BM: Moving on, it wasn't only on official series that you were disappointing, right?

FP: Yeah thanks for the effort on that euphemism... But you're correct. I was given the wrong car on some custom series and yes we did experiments on single races but it isn't an excuse for a 17% rate of winnings.
Besides, the Trophy of Champions is just getting harder and harder with each passing season. This time, all the maths went exactly correct (maybe with an exception in Monaco) but I just wasn't fast enough on qualifications. I also could have had better luck but I can't say it was all that.

BM: Right and what about surprises, I know there were some this season.

FP: That is correct. Mainly two drivers for incredible performance: Laimnesis Kauss and Alex Botta. Congratulations!
Then there were some pleasant surprises like Dominik Dán which was a wild card but still managed a 12th place on the Trophy.
And the worst surprises were Dante Vanderpuije (I was expecting so much more on the Trophy) and Paolo Zanardi (not such a bad surprise but still after that climb in season 4 I was expecting a better performance this season).

BM: Okay so to wrap up the interview, what can we expect for season 6?

FP: This time I'm not going to expect a 1st place. However, I'll promise to be more competitive than I was this season and that says it all.

And with this dream it's time to end. Thanks very much for the preference, hope you enjoyed reading it, see you again in the middle of season 6 for a quick update on this driver's career.
