Rookie Elite

As the Rookie Series rolls into Week 4, the field draws for the weeks races become a far more serious affair. After enjoying a wealth of early success and hard fought racing against one or two suitable rivals, 18 year old Jay Wellington faces by far his toughest challenge to date, this week at Oschersleben.

No less than nine of the Rookie Series Top 20 have drawn the German circuit, with other notable inclusions, like German Udo Stiefelmacher who sits 39th in the standings after an unfortunate weekend at Silverstone despite an incredible showing in Qualifying.

Of the drivers, there will be a battle for supremacy at the top, as the Top 4 in the championship all race at Oschersleben this week. 22 yr old Italian Giannini leads the title chase, twenty points clear of de Boer in 2nd, with 3rd place Zasr and 4th place Meyer all within one win of the Italian.

The well documented Atlantic battle between UK and USA drivers spills over from the A1 circuit, and we find three drivers from both nations in the Top 20 as British contenders Dover, Ward and Wellington join what was a dominant early showing from the Americans, with Barr, Smythe and Rossi retaining their places in the top flight. Leading this group in 12th is 18 year old Paul Dover, who sits a slender 12pts ahead of Wellington in 20th.

This could prove to be the first week that shuffles these drivers into a genuine order after several weeks of random draws.

"I don't anticipate too much out of this week..." said manager Adamski.

"Our approach to building Jay's skills has been about the long game, we've had a few favourable weeks, and some good fortune to finish up in 6th against tough opposition at Silverstone last week, but this week looks pretty formidable! I expect maybe Top 15, Top 10 would be fantastic, but all you have to do is look at our competition to know that's going to be a big ask..."
