Pressmeddelanden - Morrison Announces Retirement

Morrison Announces Retirement

In a press conference earlier today, it was announced that Red Eagle Racing driver Kurt Morrison is retiring after the season. Morrison said that "I just feel as if I've reached a plateau in my career", said Morrison. "I've gotten fairly far up the rankings, but I don't feel like I am improving anymore. And that's what bothers me."

But don't expect Morrison to step away from the racing community entirely, as he has accepted a position as the Competition Director for Red Eagle Racing. "Just because I'm out of the car doesn't mean I'm out of the sport. I'm still going to be heavily involved in RER and the development of our new driver. My experiences over the course of 4.5 seasons will let me teach our new driver how to succeed in this sport with less of the growing pains I experienced as a younger driver."

Speaking about a new driver, RER's President and Manager ablesser88 has announced their new driver for Season 12. 18 year old Eric Hendrix will take over the helm. "It's an honor to be chosen as the next driver for this team," said Hendrix. "I've been a big fan of Mr. Morrison since he entered the international circuits, and being the man to take over his old ride is a dream come true."

"I see a lot of promise in this kid. When I'm not racing all over the world, I often return to the US to race in sprint car races. Eric has been my biggest competition in those races," noted Morrison.

The 22 year old Morrison retires ranked 409th in the world and 13th in the USA. He has amassed 4 wins, 17 podiums, 62 top 5s, and 241 top 10s in his career with a week left in his career.

Team owner ablesser88 had this to say on Morrison: "I've appreciated all that Kurt has done for me. As a first time owner, we both had a lot to learn when we started in Season 7. And while I'm disappointed that his career is coming to an end, I can't help feeling that RER is going up with Eric at the helm and Kurt helping both of us with the competition and development."

When asked what the goal of his career was, Hendrix had some lofty goals. "I want to become one of the best there ever was and improve the reputation of United States racing".
