Pressmeddelanden - Jolly Good Show Old Chap | American F3 Series
Jolly Good Show Old Chap | American F3 Series
If there was any doubt that the British duo of Drummond Bennett and Brandon Knight were at all intimidated by being outnumbered and abroad in the U.S. they sure didn't show it in Austin this weekend.
After what was an exceptionally exciting second race, and great indicator of things to come for the series, the youngest of the Rage drivers, 18 year old Brit Brandon Knight, was the man atop the podium having snatched the top spot just a couple of laps before the finish from Bennett who had led almost the entire race up until that point.
Fellow Rage driver Bruce Wayne finished the race in 6th after a couple of late errors while Nick Wheeler unfortunately went out with mechanical failure. However all in all it's been a great debut for both Rage and it's drivers, notching up an impressive 291 points between them from the opening weekend.
The final tally leaves Bennett heading the series with Knight second, American Springer leading the US charge in third with last seasons champ Hansson in 4th just 3 points ahead of Wayne in 5th. Wheeler lies down in 9th but will expect to improve that position fast.
Jason Anderson caught up very briefly with Brandon Knight after the race.
JA: Brandon, great race, you must be thrilled.
Knight: Absolutely, I did exactly what I hoped on lap 1 when I got by Nick and Rocco but I'll admit that if not for that safety car I wouldn't have caught Drum.
JA: Drivers sometimes need a bit of luck, and you did still have to get by him.
Knight: He made a small mistake and I got a good run at him.
JA: It's all looking pretty rosey up the top for the Brits after this weekend.
Knight: It's nice to see but we can't rest, it's mid ohio next week and I fully expect everyone to be gunning for us now, hopefully we'll be ready.
So that brings this great weekends racing to a close. The brits have triumphed here but it's early yet and I for one can't wait until next week when the series continues in Ohio. See you all there.
