Pressmeddelanden - American Owner Fires Back!

American Owner Fires Back!

The mood of at least one American team is stormy to say the least. I visited the Team owned by John Stone and driven by Ray Harroun today as they prepared for the Road America race in the next leg of the American Series. This team has struggled this year and since the departure of their previous driver mid schedule last season. I had a chance to sit with the team owner first and asked about the team and the comments made by Nick Wheeler.
'You know we had good runs up to last season with our previous driver Chris and he left us after having some off the track issues. Ray has struggled some but he only had a handful of races in the Rookie series where he did well. Each Series has its learning curve. Keep in mind it gets harder as you advance.'
' As far as Wheeler is concerned, well he may be a good driver and he might not. There's a fine line you run being good and cocky or just being Offensive. As a country we should stick together not run each other down. That was wrong. I had the number 8 driver country wise in a handful of season with Chris and am starting over with Ray. But having raced with Richmond, Cheever, and Hunt you have to respect those guys. THey run in soem of the toughest series in MRC. TO call out those guys and say they run subpar was a foolsih and stupid move. You are a rookie kid run and keep your mouth shut. When you get up to the Senoir circuits and are winning then brag but right now you haven't done anything to brag about.'
Ray Harroun was concentrating on getting his ride right for Road America but did spare me a fewe minutes between runs.
'We're trying the best we can to get this right I haven't Qual'd well and our runs have been good but starting so far back has hurt us. I'm still learning we'll get there.'
'As for Wheeler....Well he needs to run more and talk less. I've raced this season with Eddie and Ryan in Single races and they run real well. THey are running tough series and the rest of the field aren't exactly marshmellows either. He'll run into his own difficulties as thats what happens in the league. There is always a learning curve.I learned long ago not to piss into the wind.'
