Zaggro (likely) Sets New MRC Record
Autopolis Circuit, Japan, and Qualifying for Sundays Superb Formula race saw an unlikely record broken by British driver Mack Zaggro... But does he really want it?
As Mack took to the track, in unforgiving torrential rain, many assumed the 26 year old would set a standard, unassuming lap, as he isn't exactly known for his wet weather skill... But what happened next will remain a mystery... And a record that may prove hard to beat (if it is in fact a record...)
Pole sitter Szena had posted a lap in the mid two minutes, so many expected Zaggro to reappear in similar fashion... However... according to the live race broadcast, Zaggro had in fact been gone for a staggering 14 minutes before crossing the line to record the slowest lap of the day.
When asked for comment, Zaggro and his NOVA Sport team seemed reluctant to explain the phenomenon, evasively changing the subject, or pointing to the horizon ambiguously before running away... some say the team were trialing some highly experimental prototype parts, capable of bending time, fitted by an all new crew of quantum mechanics (lol).
Never the less, race stewards saw fit the land the team with a technical DNF, which will see the Brit - who is fighting for P4 in the standings - starting P30.
