Richmond quits IndyJrUSA series
Natalie Pinkham of SkySports F1 reports the following interview with Tim " Hollywood" Richmond
After 5 seasons of trying to find consistency in the Indycar Junior USA season series Tim "Hollywood" Richmond
will not seek a seat in that series for season 13.
NP : Since you have decided not to return to that season series , what seat are you applying for next?
TR : Not really sure , probably a good idea would be to go to see if I even know how to compete and go and apply in the Rookie series.
NP : Why do say something like that?
TR : First , right off the bat , it would give the Rookies the same feeling that happens to all of us here,
where drivers with near max skills are fighting for custom series podiums and wins to become eligible into the Trophy of Champions invitational series
and generally everyone else gets run over . In those custom series , and in Single Races .So they would learn this is the norm here. And also as far as not knowing how to race
I had 8 DNF's in a row, I mean in a row. 1 DNF was where I was crashed out by someone else and 1 was a mechanical DNF.
and to add insult to injury I had a DNF in qualifying. This gave me a reality check like never before and as much as we tried and still with all that.
I didnt know how to qualify for most of the season , and my races were really bad no matter how low a risk we set.
So you tell me what I should do?
NP : Maybe take a seat in another series such as a F3 Regional season series but really Rookie?
TR : Rookie series , Yeah , well doesnt it fit me , Of course I got trophies in 2 out of 3 custom series this season and even that seemed a bit of a struggle.
and wins and podiums were way down. I got engineers checking numbers and facts like you wouldnt believe and still everything we tried turned to scheit .
1 engineer even sleeps with his scientific calculator in case he has a brainstorm during the night.
NP : So I venture to say a stint in HamrHedZ F1 car is not in the workz for next season ?
TR : Not Season 13, we have hired 2 very capable drivers over in that garage for next season , Marcos Afonso and Mieczyslaw Gnojarzowski .
Management feels that with the current status of points system it is best to not carry drivers more than 2 seasons in the F1 series. so maybe not even in s14 either.
NP : The other day you were hanging out with the famous Jethro "Double Naught" Bodine , he came around out of nowhere.
TR : Ha, ha , ha . Jethro and I are friends , very close friends . He mentioned the other day He would be interested in taking my seat ,
but he also said there were a couple of other rookies that he knows such as Anthony Foyt jr , Dale's Earnhardt and even Gabrile de Mario Andrettis
, they made mention they'd be glad to have a shot in a F3 seat here. so that day is coming where I will be considered "old".
NP : So lets talk a little about HamrHedZ since we got on that subject , Don't you want to drive for the HamrHedZ Carriage WerkZ ?
TR : Oh sure , I would be honored , but I dont want to give them any disadvantages if I'm not properly trained.
NP : My network and show Sky Sports F1 is going to be an associatte sponsor on the HamrHedZ car next season , any comment ?
TR : HamrHedZ Carriage WerkZ are always happy to bring aboard an associatte sponsor of high caliber such as Sky Sports F1, we will be providing Live feeds thru out each event as part of our agreement.
But we also have a few other associatte sponsors joining us for the long term. Sinclair Gasoline , STP Oil Treatment , Boeing , Rolls Royce jet engines and of course Pirelli tyres. Just to name a few
and to never forget our Main Sponsor ThunderBolt Power Generators will be returning for a 5th season .
There will be some consulting from some of these sponsors engineers with HamrHedZ engineers in specific technical areas to optimize our performance and also our exposure for them.
NP : How about Motorbike and Private car Races, will you still participate in some of these ?
TR : Maybe , but more than likely not as many as before. at least for the beginning of next season.
we will get some more racing with the NMA's starting up but that will only be but maybe a race a week added for me.
NP : What do you think of the NMA's ?
TR : I think its great. Theres many great racers on your side of the pond , we here in the USA have our work cut out for us to be competitive and give a good showing . And I am really looking forward to participating.
NP : Thanks for your time
