Half way through
Half season has passed, 8 races for Indy series, 10 races for F2 series and 18 races for NASCar. Let’s see who leads the charge for winning a championship and some closest rivals.
Indy Series
Grandi is proving speed and is leading championship midway through. He is 20 point clear of Grosjean who won his third race this season and keeps going fast enough to challenge championship. Zoggeler’s consistent driving have him in 3rd place, but need some wins to gather championship trophy. SG Jr has been out of shape in several races this season. Few retirements and just mental mistakes and he is finding himself 4th in the standings. Might be Grandi effect, but he has enough time to get to form.
NASC Gold Cup
Botta has won the most races and is leading over Vergne by 58 points, which is more than one race win worth. Vergne has had more mishups than Botta. Kauss, Kubica, Zanardi, Muzzio, Pires, Dan seems to be fightning for the 3rd spot in the standings. Dan has won 4 races, but has not finished way too many races. Overall comptetition is high and half season is enough change overall view of the standings.
F2 World
Mazzola has 43 point gap between him and Poucette, but has had two miserable races by his standards as he won 7 straight races. Poucette is going quickly, but still 2 crashes in longer races have himself dropped back from Mazzola point wise. Poucette dominated last 2 races in Paul Ricard track.
Indy Junior USA
Kaderabek has 4 of 8 races and is bolting for championship and young Pirro tries keep up with him by winning last 2 races and showing some speed. Championship mainly will be decided by these two drivers. Theri competition has dropped back by 100 points.
Indy Junior International
Kaderabek is leading with 303 points gathered, but youngster Freiverts proving that he is fast, but has 34 point deficit. After having his first win, Freiverts is searching for first Pole position. Dermisek with consistent driving hangs in there.
F2 Africa
Cannas has taken lead over Di Rado in recent races. They were tied 2 races ago. Cannas season start was slow, 2 podiums in 4 races, since then every podium with 5 wins. Di Rado won 3 of first 4 races, but that was the last race he won. Only other driver who has managed to win is Alettel, but with incosistency he has dropped back by 40 points.
F2 Asia
This series is all about two drivers – Zemeckas and Strega. Zemeckas has 28 points more than Strega. There are tracks where Strega just is not fast enough. Both have finished all races so far. Zemeckas also is on 5 race win streak, also has finihed all race no lower than 2nd place. Strega before the last race had all podium finishes, but failed to do that last time.
F2 Europe
Kuks is crushing the competition as he won first 7 races of the season. Have opened 82 point lead over Apicella, who finally won his first race this season. Apicella has very much been on podium all the time, except for 2 french races.
F2 Oceania
Lakka has opened 34 point lead over Kauria. Kauria won first three sprint races, but could not keep up the pace in longer race. Last few races has been able to gather himself. Lakka on the other hand goes steady and have won 3 races out of last 4 and keeps gathering more points. Heyfeldov has won 2 races with his speed, but sometimes he is pushing harder than he can and has crashed. Ifj. Tok is still searching for first win. He is a bit slower than anticipated before the season began.
F2 North America
Vanderpuije and Di Caro are exchanging wins and lead as they stay close by points in the standings. 4 and 3 wins respectively. A few non-finishes, but they probably will end up 1st and 2nd, the fight of course is for the Gold.
F2 South America
4 main rivals fight it out. So far Fernandez with 3 wins sits at first place, 5 point behind is Terkin, who has 2 wins. After winning first 2 races Szabo went missing in following races, but he came back and won last 2 races and tries to catch leading two. Jukna’s steady driving keeps him in conversation for championship.
