Comunicados de Imprensa - Presenting the first annual Lee Iacocca Cup

Presenting the first annual Lee Iacocca Cup

MRC rookie Michael Finley is proud to announce the formation of the first annual Lee Iacocca Cup, to be ran throughout the entire month of March at the best 10 racetracks in North America. The event will use muscle cars and have a 15 coin entry fee.

Finley, who comes from a long career as a champion at the now defunct NASRAC.com, comes back to My Racing Career after long ago participating in the early beta. He will be managing son Michael Finley Jr., with the hope of racing in the NASC Gold Cup Series within the next few seasons.

“I created the Lee Iacocca Cup in order to highlight the 10 best American racetracks and to get young drivers like Jr. here a chance to do some organized oval racing, along with a few of the nation’s best road courses, before stepping up to the big leagues,” said Finley Sr. at the announcement event. “With no stock car leagues in MRC other than the Gold Cup, I figured this would be the best way to go.”

Each track will have two races, back to back, beginning at Daytona and ending at Pocono.
Lee Iacocca was a longtime motor vehicle executive. Born in small town Pennsylvania to Italian immigrants, Iacocca is the American dream personified, going from working at the family restaurant to being an engineer and later president of the Ford Motor Company. Under his brilliance, Ford Motor Company introduced the legendary Ford Mustang, the template for most modern muscle cars. Later in the 80's, Iacocca (Pronounced “Eye-a-coke-ka”) would revitalize the struggling Chrysler brand.

The second to last race at the Lee Iacocca Cup will be at Michigan, the capital of the American car industry. The final race will be at Pocono, which is only an hour up the road from Iacocca’s native Allentown, Pennsylvania.

A full field of 43 cars will make the series the richest private series in MRC history. The series URL is right here:

"As Mr. Iacocca would say, if you can find a better series on MRC, join it." exclaimed Finley Sr. with a smirk.
