You Said All That Needs to Be Said Mr Monaco

"Red Bull was better at attracting world-class drivers with a higher rating and that gave them the edge"
- Mr. Monaca

Once again we get down to the fact the most drivers want to be as competitive as possible, so why wouldn't RB have attracted the best drivers over the past 34 seasons? Why would the best drivers not want to sign with RB given that their own competitiveness allowed them to develop a world-class driver? But what effect has that had on the long-run competitiveness of MRC F1? I would point out that this season means that RB sets a team record for points and aggregate Constructor championship wins. The MRC also produced a record-high number of teams that we're unable to score even a single point. I'll reiterate that I find the latter part extremely alarming, as it does not bode well for future competitiveness.

I do however think that it's also important to understand that the McLaren drivers you mentioned are also world-class drivers, and the McLaren team was not without their successes. McLaren has also won 14 of the 34 Constructor championships. Now think about that closely. 31 of the 34 CC's have been won by 2 teams. I would suggest that 2 teams winning the CC 91% of the time is very significant and only serves to question the validity of future competitiveness.

Lastly, let's not forget that F1 needs the participation of drivers to move forward. It's easy to want to aspire to drive for one of the top 2 teams, but how many drivers are rushing out to sign with Lotus or BMW knowing just as certainly that RB, McLaren, and Porsche are likely to field a good car, that Lotus and BMW are likely to produce the opposite?

When do MRC devs begin to realize that it's not just the opinion of the F1 team managers that should be shaping the future, but those of the potential drivers further need to be considered? I truly believe that DebiK understands that change is required (as many of his ideas have pointed in that direction), but far too much emphasis has been placed in the hands of F1 managers. Perhaps this is the first thing that needs to change?
