Wellington Getting The Boot...
In an unprecedented turn of events. One of the UK's top ranked drivers Jay Wellington is seemingly facing an abrupt end to his racing career while at the peak of his game...
The 25 year old currently sits 2nd in Euro Touring Car Series after taking victory at Paul Ricard earlier today. But after the champagne had gone flat and warm and a bit funky in the sun, the Brit confirmed his intentions in the press conference that followed, but left the official announcement to his team.
"Welly has been a stand-out driver among racers in this business, but he and I both agree that, while he is good, he can be better, and in this game, when you figure this one out, you are only playing catch-up for the rest of your career... Jay began his career with a very distinct, and direct training approach that should - in theory - have seen him challenging for silverware in top flight series' such as Indy/NASC/DTM etc by the age of 24/25. However, this system continues to evolve, drivers tap in to new approaches, the competition gets better and better and before you know it you're faced with drivers of the same age who took route B, who are boasting 20+ lap records, and a triple stack in their trophy cabinet... Sometimes you gotta cut your losses" said NOVA Sport representative Tellet Howitiz.
Unconfirmed speculation is rife throughout the paddock though, as reports would suggest an out-and-out slanging match between long-suffering NOVA team mates Jay Wellington and Paul Dover, the latter of which was seen leaving a Vegas casino "makin' it rain", clutching a bucket of chicken and carrying a suitcase of winnings with "LOL @ JAY" emblazoned on the side, leaving many to believe that Wellingtons untimely departure from the team, and the sport, is in fact due to a behind-the-scenes declaration of bankruptcy at the hands his team-mate, who recently bought a second Lambo that he could turn into a mobile jacuzzi...
Jay will still partake in the upcoming UK Championship, but has put a hold on training for the rest of the season, cus lets face it... why would you bother...
NOVA Sport bosses have yet to name their next protege... But many (or like, two people, maybe three...) are eager to see who emerges as the Black and Fuchsia teams new pilot...
