Discourse fell on the WRS paddock tonight as series applications were finalised. 4x WRS Champion, and outright legend frankly; Wynn Hunter, sat without a care in his synonymous pink liveried Hyundai, ready to set off to Monte Carlo for the tenth and final time, and begin a highly anticipated swan-song season in which he would attempt a last gasp effort at a 5th WRS title...
However, all was not in order, as the final entry list was published, Hunters name was nowhere to be seen...
Querying why his entire team would now be heading back home to Wales, opposed to joining one of the calendars most illustrious events, organisers dropped the bombshell that Hunters entry fee of a cool €1,000,000 had not been submitted!
Rushing immediately to contact the teams new financier Rich Benefactor - who had only held the position for 8 days - it became quickly apparent that the teams hard earned funds had instead been swallowed in a series of questionable Crypto investments, subsequently liquidated, and Mr. Benefactor is nowhere to be seen...
This is contrast to a paddock rumour which suggests that veteran manager of each and every one of MRC's fifty seasons of competition Adamski literally straight-up forgot that you need to keep series application cash in the bank for application deadline day, something that he has done no less than 50 times previous... And instead over-invested in training, resulting in the application being denied.
This is in no way true, despite it looking like that's definitely what I did, and all of the proof being there, I'm going to go full Prime Minister style denial and simple refuse to comment on what I definitely did do but totally didn't do...
So with that, and unwilling to sully a lower WRS series with OP skills, and not willing to try his hand at NASCAR like every other big name veteran seems to want to do these days, Hunter will hang his helmet up one season early, and pass the torch along to his understudy Hayden Vale, who will look to pack his things and ship himself over to whichever series will have him at such short notice...
