Persberichten - F3 Masters Season 32 Driver by Driver Review

F3 Masters Season 32 Driver by Driver Review

Hey guys, welcome to the driver by driver report, this time I'm gonna do it different, I'm gonna rate it from A to F, will be fun so stay tuned guys.

Champion. Michael Damon Novikov, 160 points, 6 wins
This young man has won a race in every style, one with overtaking, one with defending, one with dominance, one in the wet, one of them with strategy and the one that got him the title was the one with the comeback after a poor Sprint race at Macau which was his only poor race legitmate finish (Pau doesn't count because he started from the back), I think that has explained enough to why he deserves the championship this year and also since he's only 25, he gets to defend his title (I'll get to that in a minute.)
Grade: A++

2. Szilvester Szalonna, 148 points, 2 wins
Consistency was the key to his title challenge, as proven at Pau Feature he basically minded his own business every race and just made the maximum with every finish he got and racked up the points, true underdog. But that blunder at Macau in the title showdown had really hit him home but don't worry, he gets another shot next season since he's only 25 too.
Grade: A+

3. Chloe de St. Germain, 146 points, 1 win
She started off strongly until things started to turn sour, with Novikov rising, her lap 1 madness at Monaco that she couldn't do anything about but what hit her the most was that crash at Zandvoort that cost her 20 points and the championship, also an unnecessary 2 stop strategy at Spa when she could've stuck to 1 since it was anyone's race, also to fact she's the youngest out of the 3 title contenders but you live and learn and she's ready for revenge next season. On the bright side, she obliterated that U24 championship, there was no compeition obviously.
Grade: A

4. Razor Rushman III, 112 points, 3 podiums
He's had the pace to be on top in qualifying and the races but there was nothing missing from his part, Zandvoort was his best chance when the two stop looked like to have worked until he got stuck behind a really defensive Jarbas, but the shocking thing is that he's the best 26 year old overall and he hasn't won a race, it just gets to show how strong the youth movement is in MRC. Also he's the only one to have finished in the points in every race he's competed in so props to his brilliant consistency nonetheless.
Grade: A-

5. Bartolomeu Jarbas, 98 points, 4 podiums
If he had the consistency from the last 2 seasons, then you know he would've been a very saucy title contender, with the engine failure ending a poor showing at Pau to awful strategy decisions at Monaco to a tap in the wall at Macau which compeltely destroyed his meetin but he put in the best peformances we've seen of him tho so it shows he's getting better and better but he's got some stuff to repair if he was to fight for the title.
Grade: B+

6. John Lawley, 79 points, 1 win
Besides the shock win at Monaco from the back in torrentous conditions, the Brit has impressed and put in a really solid season nonetheless.
Grade: B

7. Aleksantari Kokkonen, 76 points, 1 podium
Same as above but the fact that he was much younger than the former and also much more consistent just gets to show a bright future he has in his hands.
Grade: B+

8. Karina Sette, 72 points
While all the female shadow goes to St. Germain, the Brazilian has still made the boys trip all over Salsa, she's been faster and also gained the consistency to maintain getting top results, just the one blunder was when she crashed out from a podium finish, maybe a win at Monaco with only a few laps left.
Grade: B

9. Ivan Kalinin, 66 points
The bad news was that his results were a bit of a downgrade from last season cause of the one-off win at Macau last season but the good news was that he got much more consistent and was able to maintain the good results throughout the season.
Grade: B-

10. Petter Solberg Jr, 63 points
It was going so good until Zandvoort, looked like to be a potential title challenger but what went wrong? The poor qualifying at Zandvoort of course didn't help but the engine failure really put him on the back foot from then and showed us that the toughest of Vikings can have their confidence knocked over.
Grade: B-

11. Bob Jones Jr, 54 points
Wasn't the fastest in general but he knew how to pick up the pieces and salvage a good race and result out of it.
Grade: C

12. Paolo Nannini, 51 points, 1 podium
A bit disappointing to be honest, he could've been a title challenger but luck aside when he retired in the 2 sprint races and his whole meetings went upside down as a result there was no coming back from that, again, another victim of the youth movement. At least he managed to get a podium at Macau to give his overall season a bit of a boost.
Grade: C-

13. Joe Paulposichon, 51 points, 14. Paul Wigzey, 49 points
Joe Paulposichon and Paul Wizgey had a bit of a tasty fight for the U22 championship, both of them were consistent and were trading results most of the time until Paulposichon came on top when Wizgey got eliminated on Lap 1. We'll see more fights like this in the future.
Grade: B- for JP C+ for PW

15. Bernando Reckziegel, 47 points
Started of well and just kinda maintained that throughout the season, the only problem here was that a small L at Spa and his retirements in some races but that doesn't hide what was another impressive season by the Brazilian.
Grade: C

16. Paul Carlotti, 30 points
Consistently fighting for points but what made his season was Zandvoort, managed to take a top 5 in the Feature Race too.
Grade: C

17. Alan Kulwicki, 30 points
Took some points of a lifetime in some races, especially at the start where he was strong, but couldn't maintain that at Zandvoort where he crashed out in qualifying and Spa but overall it's been a good season for the American.
Grade: C-

18. Tomek Pasek, 19 points
Life to the U24s can be hard as proven to a couple of drivers but he's managed to be in the points almost every race he's finished.
Grade: C-

19. David Nalbandian, 17 points
Only 2 good races this season and that was it, most of it was when he went backwards due to poor strategy decisions or retirements from races, shocking after what was some brilliance last season, massive downgrade and even he's admitted he wasn't at his best this season but next season will be the test to see how good he can pick himself back up again.
Grade: D-

20. Ema Nishino, 6 points
She might've scored some points finally but nothing was there to fight for the U22 championship.
Grade: D

21. Csabi Szasz, 6 points
The Nationality change from Romania to Hungary might've helped him a bit as he was consistently fighting for points and also he finished every race too so kudos to him.
Grade: C-

22. Alberto Latorre, 5 points
He might be young but he managed to have one of his best races in his young career at Monaco Feature,in the monsoon, managing to not only survive but also to beat other drivers around him too, but that doesn't win the U19 championship unforunately when it comes to the whole season as he racked up the back but for that Monaco peformance, that kinda deserves a decent rating.
Grade: C-

23. Zebulon-Anatole Pips, 4 points
Same as above for the Monaco race but he didn't make alot of noise this season.
Grade: D+

24. Arkadiusz Wrona II, 3 points
Finished every race this season and his consistency was on top.
A brilliant race at Macau though.
Grade: C-

25. Mikolaj Muszynski, 3 points
Easily the most impressive youngster in the field right now, he might not be on level on points overall to Latorre but he deserved to be, put in brilliant peformances and consistently beats the older and experienced drivers around him, he is going to go far.
Grade: C+

26. Sasu Suikkanen, 3 points
Other than a good qualifying at Spa which got ruined in a space of one lap, I don't know what else to say but I'm 100% sure he can do better than this next season.
Grade: D

27. Andreas Ritter, 3 points
Nothing to say as well but Spa was a major confidence boost for the young German.
Grade: D

28. Manuel Vincente, 3 points
Up and coming youngster who knows what he's doing, just picked up the pieces and stayed out of trouble, U22 champ favourite for next season.
Grade: C-

29. David Lumbreras Jr.
Imagine being the one of the oldest drivers in the field and you haven't managed to score a point this season, ouch.
Grade: E-

30. Jackson Ickx
He did struggle to keep it on the track a few times this season but he did show blimpses of pace, notably Zandvoort.
Grade: E+

31. Philip Goldberg III
Closer and closer to the points but the U22 championship did not come his way.
Grade: D-

32. Nadia Portocarrero
Another youngster with a bright future, did miss out on points but she's showing signs of improvement every season.
Grade: D+

33. Thorsten Trips
He was a bit of a crashkid, hasn't had many clean races like he should've and he did crash out of races alot in the early part especially Monaco where he took 3 cars seperately out of the race.
Grade: E

34. Joao Travoada II
If only he has more races like he did at Macau, yes he got into the Top 20, finished 19th and beaten a few drivers too.
Grade: E+

35. Hugo Vercammen
He did shine in a couple of races but that was it.
Grade: E+

36. Tony Muller
The guy just went missing this season when he should've been fighting for the U22 championship.
Grade: F

37. Manilo Albanese
He had a brilliant meeting at Pau for a start but then of course, he's a complete rookie, he's only 18 and just started racing, he didn't do that bad so props to him.
Grade: D

38. Simon Yates
Good showing at Zandvoort, quiet in the rest.
Grade: E+

39. Helio Da Matta Jr
Not been the quickest driver but there's still room for improvement.
Grade: E

40. Tex Cobb II
He's got single lap pace but no race pace at the moment, same story as last season.
Grade: E
