F3 Masters Round 2 Monte Carlo Round-Up: Driver by Driver Review

Another style of round-up because it's hard to find winners and losers in this, Race 1 was another domination for Drummond but for Race 2 well, the race opened up when a strategy mistake by not pitting under safety car sent Drummond to the back before eventually crashing out and Harvey Evans looked good to win as well before dropping out with engine troubles, alot of drivers tapping the walls but still surviving and alot of top key drivers starting at the back after troubles in Race 1 but it was a showdown between Valenta Jr. and 22 year old Nannini for the win before Valenta Jr thought he got through on the final lap before going off at Ste Devote giving Nannini the sentasional win! What a race, honestly! Now time for the driver by driver review (Done by Championship Order)

Rafael Drummond:
Qualified pole, won race 1, DNF race 2
Rafael Drummond looked to have done 2 grand slams before the races got underway but no! The safety car did it's job and set some unpredictability to the whole race, unfrounately for the talented Brazilian, he crashed at the final corner before we could see a really good comeback by him, but nothing's happened in the championship so he can relax indeed.

Bartek Szybki:
Qualified 4th, 11th race 1, 3rd race 2
I honestly thought not pitting him in the first safety car ruined Szybki's whole weekend but he made the amends and finished on the podium for the feature race! If only that strategy mistake didn't happen surely he would've taken the win and maybe gone into Drummond's clutches but otherwise we got see more of the young Pole's abilities.

Paolo Nannini:
Qualified 6th, 7th in race 1, won race 2
Ok, he's only 22 and beating the older guys but I never thought he'd be winning a race by now, like wow. He got everything right, strategy and pitstops spot on and the favourite part, keeping his cool on the final lap and didn't risk the aggressive defending against Valenta, bravo! Just made that win even more sweeter and now sits in 3rd in the championship, defintely the driver of the weekend and his progress gets even better and better!

Jukka Palmu:
Qualified 5th, DNF race 1, 8th race 2
Another what if.... if that gearbox didn't fail, he surely would've been another one fighting for that race win.

Josh Rush:
Qualified 17th, 10th race 1, 6th in race 2
Good strategy call got him back up in the top 10 in race 1 but in race 2 got stuck behind an ailing Fullerton's train which denied further progress, another good weekend in the least favourable car and I think the car was worse out here than last time at Pau.

Dawid Melnarowicz Jr.
Qualified 11th, 6th in race 1, 2nd race 2
Good strategy calls thorugh both races and great pace gave him some satsifying results, well and truly needed, another well done here and he can defintely build on it for next time at Zandvoort

Vincent Ritter:
Qualified 2nd, 3rd in race 1, 4th in race 2
You could tell he was really on it here and delivered some beautiful peformances as well, just managed to hold on with damage in race 1 too let's not forget! His challenge starts here ladies and gentlemen!

Ludek Valenta Jr.
Qualified 8th, 4th in race 1, 7th in race 2
Awful lap in quali but good race 1 got him in the hunt, thought race 2 was his time but just overshot it coming into the braking at Ste Devote and just delivered the right absolute bottlejob, don't remind him about that, kids.

Zahara Starwing:
Qualified 10th, 15th in race 1, DNF in race 2
Strategy sent her going backwards before making some good overtaking manoeuvres, probably was the only one I seen do this the whole round before a crash denied her to repeat that in race 2, defintely another one in the running I suppose.

Marc Vilanova:
Qualified 15th, DNF race 1, 11th in race 2
Crashed into his compartiot Marc Montane into Portier in race 1 and it really done his whole meeting to be honest.

Steve Wallace:
Qualified 14th, DNF race 1, 18th in race 2
The crash in race 1 unforunately ruined his whole weekend and I thought he had alot more to offer without that.

Carl Pietrzak:
Qualified 7th, 24th in race 1, 10th in race 2
Must be kicking after that strategy error that caught him out like most others and he was another one that got stuck behind the train

Harvey Evans:
Qualified 3rd, 2nd in race 1, DNF in race 2
Nooo, luck is so defintely not by the Aussie's side, even when he looked good for a potential feature race victory to put him back in the title fight with Drummond out but I guess there's no coming back from that but you know what? Never say never.

Alex Reis:
Qualified 9th, 5th race 1, 12th in race 2
Was unable to repeat his sprint race masterclass when his strategy didn't pay off but otherwise it was a promising weekend by the Young Brazilian

Mack Zaggro:
Qualified 16th, 17th in race 1, 5th in race 2
Looked to be off the pace this meeting but finished 5th in the feature race??!! Where did he come from? Great race by the NOVA man. Let's not forget some of his ballsy moves too.

Terry Fullerton:
Qualified 13th, 8th in race 1, 9th in race 2
Came back from a disaster weekend at Pau to have a decent weekend at Monaco, race 2 however was barely fought, damaging his car at Tabac and tried to hold on to places but at the end 9th was the best he could do. Should start cutting down the mistakes now honestly and he'll get there.

Angel Holguera:
Qualified 22nd, 18th in race 1, DNF in race 2
Haven't heard from him in this meeting but by the time he got into the points in the feature race, his car shut down.

Petter Solberg Jr.
Qualified 32nd, DNF in race 1, 14th in race 2
Came back from a terrible quali in race 1, near to the points but binned it at the final corner, however he redid the progress and this time he got in the points, deserves a cup of tea after getting his hard work done, not once but TWICE

Bernardo Reckziegel, Tomas Pasek and Csabi Szasz:
All 3 of the young guns have managed to score points, Reckziegel and Szasz in race 1 before they both failed to finish race 2 while trying to hold on from older and faster competitiors and Pasek in race 2, not bad considering they're only 19 at the end of the day too.

Zach Austin:
Qualified 23rd, 14th in race 1, 15th in race 2
Decent race 1 let him to score his first points of this challenge so it's getting better and better every race, worth every second of the experience.
