Persberichten - Wheeler Announces Big Changes for Season 14

Wheeler Announces Big Changes for Season 14

As Nick Wheeler stepped down from his 24th podium finish in Lithuania, he raised a hand and gave a wave to Jason Anderson, the American reporter that has followed his career since his rookie season. Here's what he had to say to Jason:

Wheeler: "In light of some long talks with my manager, we've decided that it's in our best interest to move on from Rage. There are no hard feelings, aggression, or negative thoughts in general towards my Rage teammates, and I'll always compete with them the same way I've competed with them from day 1.

I've been so focused on my own goals and development that I've just not spent any time with Rage. I haven't participated in any of the group meetings, run in any of the group Single Races, series, or anything like that in at least a month. In fact, I just noticed the other day that Jackson Storm was sporting a nice new Rage livery in Austria. I had no idea the team changed, because I haven't checked in. It was then, that I decided it was probably time to take a leave."

Anderson: "So what now?"

Wheeler: "I plan to continue on the path that I started with Rage. Though the field in F3 Worlds is ideal for me, and I think I could contend for an overall title, I've decided to move on to F2 North America. I may not contend for a title, but I think I can run with the top third in that field.

I'm also announcing a new sponsor. I will now be running in a blue and orange Gulf machine. My manager designed the livery after we had some talks with Gulf, and both myself and the sponsors fell in love with it. It's really a throwback to some old school F1 livery styles.

The Gulf sponsor will only apply to my formula machines, and my P2 car. The Ferrari will remain under the Hotwheels sponsorship... because.. Hotwheels.. Wheeler.. Get it? Also, the Ducati bike will still keep the Marvel/Superman sponsorship."

Anderson: "Can we take a look at the new livery you're so excited about?"

Wheeler: "Absolutely. It will make its debut tomorrow in Australia, but here's a quick peak:

I'm spending a lot of time with the driving coaches right now, working on a number of on-track things, so hopefully the competition won't get much of a chance to take in the new look!"

Simply stated, nwheel wasn't kidding when he said Wheeler would be making some big strides in the upcoming season. We'll have to wait and see what unfolds for the, now former, Rage driver.
