Controversy In Sebring

The Formula 3 America Series event in Sebring, Florida, marked a triumph for American Driver James D'Angelo. For the first time in his career, he earned a podium finish.

But there was controversy on the podium during the celebration, when Mr. D'Angelo unfurled the flag of the Anti-Fascist Movement:

.

The action was met by boos from much of the crowd, but there was some applause when he was walking back to the paddock for post-race interview.

In one interview, the Seattle, Washington, born driver explained his actions.

"A country that decades ago stood against fascists in Europe has one in the White House, and racists in the streets. Those who have adopted the tactics of Anti-Fascists are the ones standing up and fighting back."
