Latvian Series 17 Showdown

The stage has been set to determine the Latvian Series 17 champion. Tiago Tejo is positioned as the favorite but Jaan Savisaar still has an opportunity to challenge for the title. Savisaar trails Tejo by 67 points going into the last two races of the season series.

Savisaar has a bit of a hole to dig out of after qualifying 9th for the upcoming short race in Bikerneike. Tejo qualified 5th.

Making this battle more interesting is Gene Bellamy who currently holds down the 3rd position - trailing by 50 points. Bellamy qualified 3rd for the upcoming race and with a strong performance this weekend could pass Savisaar in the season standings.

The three graduates of last years Rookie Series have dominated the Latvian Series this year with Savisaar recording 7 victories, Bellamy 6 and Tejo 5. Tejo leads the points by the same virtue that gained him the Rookie Series championship last year - he simply has a consistent knack for finishing in the top 10. Savisaar has relied on speed having recorded the quickest laps in 9 of the 18 season races.

Let me take this opportunity to wish the best of luck to all racers who are challenging for trophies in the last 2 weeks of season 17. May the winds of fortune be at your back!
