プレスリリース - Damien Fox says his farewells.

Damien Fox says his farewells.

With only one week left in the season, and indeed one week left in the abbreviated racing career of Damien Fox, today was a realisation of exactly what he is leaving behind and a chance to thank a few people that played vital roles in helping him throughout his youth career and short stay in the world of Formula 3.

"It's actually just hit me all of a sudden really.
I'm following my heart by taking up ballet full-time, but it was a tough choice to leave motorsport completely." Fox said, while wiping away a drop of water that appeared under his left eye.

"Where I came from, I was a local legend.
Everyone said I'd make it to the top eventually. Nobody in Ireland could get near me, I was just too darn quick for them!
When Emerald asked me to take a seat in Formula 3, I jumped at the chance. But I always had that longing for ballet dancing that racing could not satiate."

"After a heart-to-heart with my closest friends, I decided it was time to move on to what I truly desired.
Yeah, I'm leaving without making any sort of a mark here, but I can be proud of my rookie series finishes in the four race weeks I competed in. 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 6th in the 5 races is not bad at all I think!"

"While I've been back in Ireland the last day or two, I've had a chance to thank some people who looked after me during my formative years."

"Uncle Joe with the gimpy leg and his wife, my Aunt Sally, they really helped me after I showed interest in racing when my father brought me along to the local karting track. Ha, Uncle Joe actually bought me my first racing helmet. Actually, it wasn't really a racing helmet, but the local sports shop in my community only had Barbie cycling helmets for sale before my first ever race, so it had to do. I had a good laugh with them earlier today reminiscing about such stories!"

"There was also the local priest, Father Dave, who helped with raising money when I was competing throughout Ireland. I didn't get to meet him today though as he was sent to prison for extorting money from the Catholic Church a year or two back.. Nonetheless, he helped in some small way."

"I'm almost done, last but not least, my Mother and Father.
They helped me more than I could have ever imagined, and eve though my Dad went mental a couple of weeks back after he heard I was ditching motor racing for the ballet, he has calmed down alot now and both have wished me every success on my new career path"

"There's really nothing more for me to say.
In my last week of racing motor cars, I am wearing my younger brothers helmet and using the livery he will have on his cars.
You all better get used to seeing them anyway, because Redmond is a much better driver than me. I'm glad I never had to race him competitively because he would have embarrassed me! One things for sure though,he will be around for a long, long time and I've no doubt he will be a huge success here"

So that's all from Damien Fox.
He has a few races that he is contractually obliged to race in, but I feel as if we've now heard from him for the last time.

Roll on Season 11, and a new dawn in the shape of Redmond Fox!
