British to Invade U.S. F3?

Nick Wheeler has caused quite a stir this week with his comments on the American Racing scene and in his latest press conference he named two British drivers as potential competitors in America next year. We sent MRC reporter Jimmy Allen out to talk directly with Knight and Bennett about this revelation.

JA: So gentleman, here we are on a flight back to the UK after yet another visit to the US for you both. What have you been doing over here?

Knight: Mostly testing, Jimmy. You know, figuring out how to get the most out of practice sessions, that sort of thing.

Bennett: And it doesn't hurt to learn the tracks over here too, we like to get over here between our other commitments, get as much track data as possible.

JA: Sounds a lot like Nick Wheeeler has the right of it then, you're preparing to join the US series next season?

Bennett: Nothing is set in stone, but if either of us do step out of our current series I think it will be to head stateside.

JA: So why the U.S.? Historically it's not a common destination for British drivers with only rookie Ian Green currently competing there.

Knight: That might even be part of the attraction Jimmy. Everyone knows the UK has the top national F3 in the world with a lot of F1 world champions having passed through it's gates. The U.S. is a bit more untested, it's newer, fresher and undoubtedly competitive.

Bennett: Plus it's always good to stick on over the Yanks now and then. It should be fun.

JA: Brandon, you've had reliability issues in the rookie series this season, it that something you'll be working on for next season?

Knight: Absolutely. The team has worked tirelessly to help iron out those issues and get me driving more within the capabilities of the car. I'm hoping for a much smoother second half of this season.

JA: And Drummond, you've not necessarily performed as well as you might have hoped in your second season in Poland.

Bennett:
This season has been hampered by some poor results early on, and I've been concentrating on off track skills a lot too, but I'm now back and focused and if I'm not on the track I'm in the simulator. Next season will be fun!

JA: That's great to hear. Gentlemen it's been a pleasure, best of luck to both of you for the remainder of the season.

JA: Well there you go folks. I know they said it's not certain but with all the testing, applications already in and preparation that seems to be going on I think all of us here in the U.S. can agree...the brits are (probably) coming!
