Celebrating 25 Seasons! (Role Vacancy)
As we (kind of) approach 50 seasons of MRC, I feel it's time I took a fresh look at my involvement in the game, as I find time and commitments outside of this virtual world are preventing my absolute involvement.
In light of that (and in light of having left drivers in the paddock without a call up to their events...) I have decided not to continue as Nations President for GB.
Since it's inception back in Season 13, I attended as our inaugural President, presided over sharing the role with others for nigh-on every season since, with 25 seasons at the helm, including the last 18 seasons consecutively! In that time we have seen flashes of success in the midst of our mid-pack status-quo, and watched as we crowned overall drivers Champions with Wiggins and Cooper in back to back Seasons in 40 and 41 respectively. The former resulting in an outright 2nd place finish for the Nation!
Alas, as we see a few climb the ladder, we have seen many fall away into obscurity in what is now an ever-dwindling breadth of available drivers.
Not continuing this role doesn't spell the end for my involvement in the game overall, I'll be available to PM for anybody who does take on the role when applications go live imminently (although the majority is pretty self explanatory), and am still invested in working with the Dev team, predominantly on the impending improvements to Rally Series.
I'm sure a great many will critique and call-out my methods and my failings, pick over the spreadsheets and wonder what could have been, and I will commend you for your passion for the game... While simultaneously surrounding myself exclusively with yes-men, who celebrate my successes and make me feel as though I did a great job regardless!
Thank you to everyone in the community past and present, who have made this position a pleasure and a challenge at times, you've invested more time in Nations with your drivers over the years than I did with mine (because mine didn't cut the mustard at the top of the game!) and I hope we can continue to do so!
