Is It Time For Formula 3 To Evolve?
Jumping on the speculation station, and I know adding more "maybe Devs could do this!?" To the ever growing list is asinine, but for me, the core value to change and refresh this game would be as follows (and I'm sure probably really difficult to implement... Sorry!)
Look at IRL F2, GP2, F3, Super Formula, F1, Indy... All real life versions of these sports have had one thing in common in the last 5 years; a chassis overhaul.
The current models of F3 (where 75% of MRC managers spend their daily time) are great, but have existed since Season 1... Some good 8 calendar years ago.
Personally I feel that a fantastic way to refresh the game would be to rewrite to code of these cars, a redesign would be fantastic with new graphics etc, but very time consuming! If the core code were redesigned, greater differential between chassis (for example, "handling" chassis becomes +20 on handling instead of +10), we'd see considerably more diversity among chassis choice based on Series entry, people would really have to start considering which F3 chassis is best for a given race or series, opposed to the 90% (myself included) who sit middle of the road with MYGVOL.
Furthermore, pretty much all of these series in real life have seen net gains to lap times.
I say add a good 4 seconds a lap to F3 chassis overall speed, not just for the sake of competition, but to allow archive setups to need changing, but still be relevant. As well as going back to a blank canvas, as all F3 lap records would be up for grabs for all managers, opposed to being nigh on unbeatable 10+ year old records.
And I say this in full knowledge that my own 20 lap records would also be at risk.
F3 is very "cookie cutter" now, especially as the 100 INT driver formula has been cracked. If people won't change their driver build, then change the cars they compete in?
Imagine a new manager of an 18 year old driver joining the game, and taking the fight to a 21 year old driver from the outset, purely because he picked a more appropriate chassis for a given circuit. Opposed to getting sacked off by anyone older than him and losing faith before they've even begun.
