Comunicati Stampa - Pires not so strong this season
Pires not so strong this season
As promised, we will reveal the mid-season interview with Francisco Pires in this that is "the hardest season" in his career.
Almost 600 races after his debut, Pires is now in serious trouble to climb up the podium stairs. Last season he raced in the Indy series where he finished 6th, which he didn't find it to be a bad spot. However, currently in 5th place on a slightly lower series, the Formula 2 World Championship, he doesn't look nearly as satisfied.
Here's what we could get out of him.
Blazefp's Magazine: Hello Francisco, to start with, tell us why are you so unsatisfied with 5th place?
Francisco Pires: Hi, well it's not that I'm mad at myself or the team for this place but I know I can do better. First of all, on the first races of Silverstone and Spa I made some mistakes on the last laps which together costed me almost 10 places. That's not a good performance, at least not for me.
Second, I have less than half the points of the current winner, Paolo Grandi, to which I promised to be a match. For this I feel very disappointed.
Blazefp's Magazine: I see, but what do you think are the causes for this bad performance?
Francisco Pires: That's the worst part. I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just getting overtaken by younger drivers, maybe it's just bad luck. Honestly, I believe it's a bit of both.
I mean, I'm not so good in qualifications, I understand and accept that, I've never been known to be the fastest one. But my consistency in races used to be enough, now it's not, it's tougher to overtake the other drivers.
Blazefp's Magazine: And what do you plan to do to get faster?
Francisco Pires: Well, nothing to do about the other drivers so I'll just train and train and train even more.
And before you ask, I don't know on which place I'm going to end up because of this, but be sure to expect a podium.
Blazefp's Magazine: Right, and what about other races? You haven't win a single custom series this season.
Francisco Pires: Yeah, with all due respect for the team, they aren't doing a great job this season choosing the car. I had one of the worst possible cars for the last 2 custom series which compromised my position.
But since we're talking about this I'd like to congratulate Jonnas Vitorino on his win against me and Antoine Poucette on the LuckyRacing custom series. It sure wasn't an easy series but he still surprised everyone. He's also on the top30 of the Trophy of Champions rating list.
