Staci Evans Moves Up To F2 Series
The Owner of the number 35 Team is moving driver Staci Evans into the North America Formula 2 Series. He is trying to get the team on a bigger stage for better sponsor deals, and hoping for a little luck in this higher level series as they continue to train up their young driver.
The MidWest Post Reporter caught up with Staci Evans for some questions and answers.
MWPR: Staci, how do you see yourself doing in the F2 Series after just two short seasons in F3? Many argue another run at F3 would have been wiser when developing a young driver.
Staci: I don’t own this team, so I drive what I drive, and go where I am told. Loyal must have confidence in what we are doing. This is an expensive level of racing and he put the money down to get us here.
MWPR: What do you think of the field? Early press speculation has you rated 16th in the pack of teams.
Staci: I look up to drivers Nick Wheeler and Tim Richmond very much. To be on the same track as them will be a real treat for me. I am happy Rage teammate Leonard McCoy is in the series with us as well. Having a fellow Rage teammate to travel with will make this season less intimidating for sure as we jump to this level.
MWPR: With the points system in this series you need to place in the top ten. Do you realistically think with the talent in this series, and teams that can afford better equipment and training that you can do this?
Staci: We are here to race. We will do the best we can with what we have. There will be some growing pains and hard lessons learned, but there will also be some lucky breaks and hopefully skillful moves here and there as well. We are all competitors and everyone in this series will try to win when they think they can. My personal goal is to finish all of the races if possible, and try to pick up experience, sponsors, and a few top notch finishes as well.
MWPR: Is Leonard McCoy the lead driver for Rage in this series? Will you block for him? Are there standing orders to help him first?
Staci: Leonard McCoy is a great friend and good driver. He needs no such help. Team Rage has no orders to stand down give teammates preference or anything of the sort. I of course will never try to wreck him and try to exercise caution when he passes me or if I get a chance to pass him, but other than that we will just have fun. It is great traveling as a team when we can.
McCoy makes the step-up to F2!
With season 15 about to get underway I caught up with Leonard McCoy's manager, Emerald, to discuss just how McCoy can do in the upcoming North American F2 series. Here is what Emerald had to say... ~ "It's gonna be a tough season for Leona...
