James Lopez takes maiden podium in first Rookie Race at Lausitz
23 year old rookie James Lopez has taken his first career podium - in his first ever Rookie Race at the Euro Lausitz Speedway.
James qualified 4th for the race, and ran most of the race battling to get 4th back during the race, before he weaved his magic.
James passed his rival to get into 4th, and was fortunate the next rival crashed out, all of this happening within the last 10 laps of the race. James finished 3rd just 4.5 seconds behind the winner, but when he hopped out of the car he was ecstatic with the result.
"I'd just love to thank my team, my family, and my sponsors. I could never have imagined myself on the podium so early in my F3 career! We've done a perfect job so far on the GP circuit here at Lausitz. It feels like we've won today, and I cannot thank everyone enough for helping me reach this feat."
James celebrated on the podium with Robert Headington (GBR) and Kenan Sygen (ITA) who finished 1st and 2nd respectively, and as they partied into the night, tensions begin for what may happen in the 2nd and final race with top 3 so close to each other in the sprint race.
