Andre Acarini takes the lead in NA Streer series. Lyn holds onto 9th
The NA streets circuit passed through Denver this week. The second of five sets of races, everyone was wondering whether Pan Piter would be able to hold onto his lead. But in Denver it was the Italian Andre Acarini who claimed a double victory and took the lead in the championship rankings. Piter holds onto the second spot and Angela Merkel rounds out the top three.
Most of the drivers in the top ten spots of the NA streets series are experienced drivers, but a few rookies have managed to score points. The English driver Benjamin Martin sits in sixth place, after claiming a victory at the second race in New Jersey. One of the youngest drivers, the Dutch Lyn Thaele is in ninth. She claimed two sixth places, one in New Jersey and one in Denver.
We managed to steal a bit of her time before she headed to her next race.
*Back when we spoke last you mentioned you'd be glad to just score a few more points. You've managed to do just that.
“I was hoping to score points in at least one more race, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. It feels like everything is just going my way.”
*Who do you think is going to win the NA streets competition this season?
“I think it's between Pan, Andre and Angela right now. But I wouldn't know which of those three I'd pick to be the favorite. If I have to pick one.... I'd say Andre. Maybe?”
*So far you've been doing really well in the longer races. Can we expect you to score again in the second race in Toronto?
“I think my driving style is more suited to longer races. But there was a bit of luck involved as well. Maybe next week I'll get lucky in the shorter race instead of the longer one. You'll just have to wait and see.”
