Lyn Thaele scores first points in NA Streets New Jersey race
Lyn Thaele scored her first points in the second of two races on the New Jersey track. After qualifying 22nd and finishing 17th in the first race, the team didn't expect fireworks. But Lyn surprised friend and foe by fighting her way up to the 6th spot.
“I'm super excited to have scored my first points in a F3 series.” The 18 year old declared. “I know this sounds stupid, but it almost felt like a win to me.” She continued, barely able to contain her excitement.
The 18 year old Dutch driver joined Regal racing recently. Neither the team nor Lyn are considered a true threat for the NA streets championship.
“No, I don't think any of the other teams are really worried about me winning.” Lyn admitted. “And they're probably right not to be, there are a few drivers out there I just can't keep up with. I'll be glad if I can score a few more points before the season is over.”
We asked her how challenging it was to compete at these levels.
“Back when I was riding karts I was always in the top three, but that rings true for almost everyone who has entered F3. I'm really impressed by how fast everyone is. I didn't think it would be this much of a challenge. But just because it's hard right now doesn't mean I'm going to quit. I want to follow in the footsteps of other successful female drivers like Angela Merkel.”
