Young Bucks Racers U22 - Clow and Mairesse surprises in San Carlos
The second half of the Young Bucks Racers U22 Series opened and Fabricio Ze Cruz took the lead over championship leader Janos Toth-Fodor. Ze Cruz on pole position, Toth-Fodor only on 7th at the start, host Raphael Weber only from position 15th.
The race lasted 26 laps and Weber retired relatively early. An accident in round five knocked him out. Frederic Duchateau was the first to be eliminated in Round 3. Noah Anderson was eliminated like Raphael Weber in lap 5 and Felix Piquet in lap 29.
Already in the first 4 races it was clear that the pole position in the Young Bucks Racers U22 was not a guarantee of a race victory. Only Czech Michal Smidl was able to turn the poles into a victory in the last race in Melbourne. Today Fabricio Ze Cruz was not even on the podium after his pole position. 4th place was the race result for the Portuguese rider, championship rival Toth-Fodor fell back to 12th place in the race.
The race was won by Jack Clow, who entered the race in 5th position. Walter Mairesse started from position 9, finished the race in position 2 and Silke Rasmussen, who entered the race in position 2, finished third ahead of Ze Cruz and Egidio Suai.
Fabricio Ze Cruz takes over again the championship table after today's race and is 191 to 180 ahead of Janos Toth-Fodor. Rank 3 goes to Silke Rasmussen with 140 points, Jack Clow improves to position 4 with 124 points, thanks to his victory and place 5 goes to Enrico Bitta with 123.
The 6th round of the Young Bucks Racers U22 will take place in Japan, at the Twin Circuit of Motegi, then it will go back to Europe for 2 races in Oschersleben, Germany and at the Salzburgring in Austria and the final will take place in Kyalami in South Africa.
